Transcription of Police Misconduct Hearing: Case Study

We are often approached by professional standards departments of regional UK police force, to transcribe a police misconduct hearing in the case of appeals.
The Need
The professional standards department of a large regional police force contacted us for transcription of a police misconduct hearing, requested for appeal purposes. Their internal services were unable to cope with the sheer volume of appeals coming through and we were asked if we could turn a five day hearing around quickly.
How Transcribe It met the objectives
- Four team members were allocated to five hours of recording.
- To ensure consistency, regular communication was required between the team to ensure place names, jargon and citations were accurately reflected.
- To ensure completeness and accuracy, four microphones from each recording were thoroughly listened to and then checked back through.
- Transcribe It managed to turn the recordings around in four working days, thus exceeding client expectations.
Turnaround
20 hours of misconduct hearing within five working days.
